Over the last few weeks, I decided to do a re-shoot as I wanted to get some more footage as I felt that I was struggling to use the footage I originally had to create the whole video.
Therefore, I not only went back to Hyde Park to re-shoot but also did another studio shoot in the black recital room.
After looking through all of my footage, I decided to use the new studio footage as "backstage" as the lights were visible and Monique was wearing different clothing. To make this footage stand out from the rest, I added a black and white effect onto it and intertwined it within the original first draft of my video to break up the performance shots.
Additionally, I added more footage from Hyde park including simple but effective shots of Monique feeling the railings as she walks past et.
Furthermore, feedback from my first draft suggested that the narrative was not clear enough and that there should be a backstory to the meaning of the letter. Therefore I added in shots of a letter being written and changed the saturation to give it a subtle sepia effect to make it seem as though the letter was written in the past. However, only a close up of the hand writing the letter is shot, therefore the enigma of not knowing her lover makes the video more interesting as it keeps the audience in suspense as well as depicting the idea of the protagonist's lost love and the relationship they shared is kept between the two of them, adding a sense of intimacy to the video.
I also added a shot of the protagonist laying down a poppy wreath to suggest that her lover had passed away in the war which gives the video a more emotive feeling.
